Operating plan

The Macedonia Foundation Ghana in Adidome will offer accommodations to 20 to 40 orphans or disabled children from the Adidome community ages 0 to 18 years old. As funding is available the orphanage will extend aid and support to needy and disabled children living outside the orphanage.
The orphanage will maintain separate dormitories for 20-40 boys and girls and on site accommodations for the Home Mother. The orphans staying at the orphanage will be fed breakfast before going to school, lunch at school, and supper at the orphanage. Upon returning home from school the children will complete their homework, perform chores, participate in athletics, and have access to the library and eventually computer training. Those older than 15 will have access to training in trades such as farming, carpentry, catering, Dress Making and Batik Tie & Die, and electrical (electrician). On Saturdays the children will do their laundry and finish other chores and on Sunday they will attend church.
The orphanage will be staffed by a home mother who will live at the orphanage, four nurse mothers to help with the children’s daily needs, two caretakers to care for the buildings and grounds, and a security man. The orphanage will also have relationships with local tradesman to run the shops and apprentice programs that will teach trade skills to the children.
The trade shops and farm that the Macedonia Foundation Ghana operates will not only teach the children trade skills but also produce goods for sale at the local market and within the local community. The proceeds from this work will go to supporting the orphanage and will help the Macedonia Foundation Ghana offset its operating cost, making it self sustaining in time.
The orphanage will be open to children from across the Adidome community. Space and resource limitations will force the Macedonia Foundation Ghana to give priority to children who first, have lost both parents, second, have a disability, and third, live outside the town of Adidome. Children not living in the orphanage may be extended support in the form of food, school fees, supplies, and the opportunity to use orphanage resources such as training, the library, and computer centre. Children who excel in their academic studies may also receive support in the pursuit of higher education.
Upon the completion of their secondary schooling (approximately at the age of 18) orphans will be expected to begin living independently. The Macedonia Foundation Ghana will help children to find jobs to support themselves.
The Macedonia Foundation Ghana will continue to be run on a daily basis by its current leadership team. The team will report on a quarterly basis the organization’s operations to a local board consisting of the village Chiefs, Pastors and Queen Mothers. Donors will also be provided these regular reports.
